Pearly White meets its demise!

We all know that too much sugar will rot our teeth.
Did you know?
·         The white enamel that covers the teeth is the hardest substance made by the human body.
·         Our teeth should last us all our lives, but their biggest enemy is acid.
·         Sugary foods provide food for the millions of bacteria in our mouths and their waste product is acid.
·         If we don’t brush our teeth regularly, this acid builds up and decays our teeth.
We wanted to find out the effect of soaking teeth in coca cola.

Requirements:
·         2x clean petrie dishes
·         ¼  cup coca cola
·         ¼  cup of water
·         2 infant teeth
Method:
1.     Pour water into 1 dish and coca cola into the other.
2.    Place 2 similar sized teeth into each of the dishes.
3.    Observe daily and record results.
     Results:
     End of Day 1

Stay tuned for results on Day 4.

Here it is!  Not looking too fresh!
This photo shows a control baby tooth, which is what they all started out like - (start far right and move around clockwise!)
The bottom one is taken out of the coca cola after 4 days.
The next one was soaked in diet lemonade – it didn’t look any different to when it started, but when Mrs Anderson picked it up, the tooth crumbled.  We’re a bit scared of artificial sweeteners now!
The last at the top is after a week of soaking in Lift Plus, a popular energy drink.  It ended up rotten throughout and encased in an extremely sticky jelly.
