Mr Jones
We are very lucky because we have Mr Jones in our class for 7 weeks. He is working with us because he wants to be a school teacher and we think he'll do just fine because he knows some cool games, he is interested in what we do in class, and he's a really nice man.
My Very Special Person
Who
is very special to me?
Task: Write about someone who
is very special to you and create a picture of this person in the reader’s mind.
My dad is
the stinkiest person in the world when he farts. He smells like rubbish. His eyes are blue and he has black sweaty
hair and the longest legs ever. His feet
smell like rotten eggs from being locked up in boots with old ripped socks all
day at work. He has muscles. He is special to me because he takes me out
hunting with him. He takes me rabbit
shooting with his 22 - duck shooting, geese hunting and heaps of other
hunts. He loves going hunting, but the
best he likes is duck shooting. He wakes
up early in the morning or goes when he comes home from work late at
night. I like my dad because he is
genius.

dinosaurs. He likes to play imaginary
games, go on his tablet, play Lego Heroes and he gets invited to parties. He also likes playing with toys and having
play dates. We do a lot of talking. We play funny games. We have so much in common. When we have play dates we get bats and hit
thistles. He is my best friend.

Grandma
Eileen is a special person to me. She is
around in her 60’s and has light ginger hair.
Grandma does not live far from Rotowhenua Road. She lives in a calm, peaceful area with 2
dogs, Kate and Tom. I like to have
sleep-overs at her house and have her read ‘Grandpa’s Slippers’ to me in
bed. She is special to me because she is
very old and kind and caring. My grandma
likes to let the dogs out of their cage to water the flowers. Grandma sometimes calls me ‘Charlie
Brown’. When Grandma comes to our house
she gives us lollies and she watches me on the trampoline. I think that my grandma smells like soap from
all the soap she has! I think my grandma

cross. But I don’t care. Samuel loves eating salt and lollies. Samuel and me love going to the beach,
playing on the swings, but the thing we hate is going to bed – only when it
rains. Samuel is very smart. He knows a lot about dinosaurs. Samuel has two personalities – being kind and

do something she always stands up and cheers me on all the way to the finish
line. She is very friendly all the
time. If she is very proud of me, which
she usually is, she gives me a humongous hug and lets me have an ice-block or a
biscuit. My mum is my favourite person
in the world along with my sister, dad and loads more people. I love my mum!!!

This
special person is my brother Lars. His
smell is stuck in my head all day. Lars
smells like Nivea men’s deodorant. He’s
handsome, pimply and spotty with a red nose.
Creepily manly is what Lars sounds like.
Lars is special to me because he is fun, strong, he’ll play soccer with
me, he’ll help me with my butterfly (for swimming) and whenever I’m sad he’ll
cheer me up. This special person likes
to play on his iPad, play soccer, play on the trampoline and swim. I like to do everything with Lars because

he likes to play Play Station. We do it
together. I eat pop-corn. Innes likes to eat it too. We play nicely together, although we fight
sometimes, more like a lot. Innes is
nine years old, nearly ten. He talks
heaps. Every time he talks I get bored
and more bored. On Easter my brother helps
me find Easter eggs. Innes is creative
but he never does art or drawing. His
mind is over taken by technology. We
grow flowers. We are quite into
nature. I love him so much. We love each other. We play Teachers. Innes is the teacher. He is my special person for life!

watch Star Wars on the T.V. Sam likes to
play Star Wars with two bats pretending to be a Jedi Knight and a Sith Lord at
the same time. His personality is
playful and funny because he likes playing jokes and playing with people his
age. Well, Sam has lots of personalities
really, but his best one is being active just like me! My brother smells like shampoo and cat
because he pats Thomas all the time. On
Saturday’s he scoffs his chips down from the big bowl into his stomach. Saturday’s are awesome movie nights! On the week-end Sam uses most of his time
playing with his tiny bits of Lego, which Ruby sometimes attacks and starts
chewing. We like making animations with
Mum’s camera. Chocolate, lollies,
ice-cream and Toblerone chocolate are his favourite treats. Pizza, pasta and potatoes are his favourite

Year 3/4 Hockey - Possums vs Pukekos
Puketapu's two Year 3/4 Summer Hockey teams played off this week at school - Possums vs Pukekos!!
Thank you Cathy Alexander for documenting this event which I sorely missed due to a meeting I couldn't really get out of!!
POSSUMS
PUKEKOS
SOME SNAPS...
A COUPLE OF SNIPPETS...
Our young kids have really benefited from the 3 year contract we made with H.B. Hockey back in 2013, where all levels of the school have been immersed in intense 2 week coaching sessions each year with the H.B. Hockey development crew. Things look very promising for the future of inter-school hockey at Puketapu School!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe Puketapu Possums won the game 3 - 1. Thanks for umpiring Mandy! Good Job! If you were there, thank you for your support!

Discovery 1!
Discovery
is…
“on Friday’s”
“when the
teacher isn’t telling us what to do”
“when we can
bring stuff from home to work on”
“when the
teacher puts different things out to explore”
“taking turns to
choose what we want to do”
“sharing our
stuff to make things”
“where we decide
how to do it”
“where we have
something at the end and share about it”
“where the
teacher takes photos of us working”
“deconstructing
things”
“thinking of
what we can do with different things”
“make believe”
“cooking
sometimes”
“arts and
crafts”
“problem
solving”
“technology”
“where we take
what we make home”
Discovery 1!
Georgia and Joey worked to engineer special video cameras to make movies!
Rose, Amy and Sabine were a great little team. They cooked and packaged deliciously fresh pop-corn - enough for all - salted, sugared, or salty-sweet! Yummmm!!
Persaous and Lillie teamed up to construct a two storey house, focus mainly being on the living and bed rooms.
Daniel N., Abigail and Samuel worked superbly together and built a 'pod racer', just like on Star Wars!
Alex A, Fred, Hugo, Oscar A, Oscar M, and Daniel M were hard at it, building a variety of scooter ramps. Notice Mr Wooster who couldn't resist getting involved and he was a real asset with his big saw!!
Thank goodness Oscar M brought his tool box!
'All hands' to apply a lick of paint!
Great team work all the way!
Is that Mr Wooster?
Connor and Leighton teamed up to construct a Hedgehog House!
Luka and Jake worked as secret spies constructing a super secret telescope and other spy tools.
Zoe, Kadi, Alex H and Jordis worked hard to prepare an end of Discovery snack for all! They iced and decorated plain biscuits - health and safety first and foremost!
Construction Alley!
Leo set up shop! He offered fresh fruit and vegetables at reasonable prices, had a sensitive and reliable security system, and he also accepted credit cards for payment!
Look at this!! One of the boys' groups scooter ramp that they built in Discovery time was being well utilised at lunch time!!!
We love Discovery!

The Twits
Mrs Anderson read Roald Dahl's book, 'The Twits' to the class. She thought it was a great opportunity to do some descriptive writing!
TASK:
Write an interesting description of the Twits. Include what they look like, their likes/dislikes and things they do. We also had to share our own opinion of the 'terrible twosome'!
Here are just three samples of the wonderful writing created!
The
Twits, those old, hairy hedgehogs like torturing kids, birds, monkeys and each
other. They love bird pie, any kind of
bird pie – magpie, song-thrush and many more.
In a cage in the garden they have monkeys. The monkeys were Muggle Wump and his
family. Their life was upside down. Mrs Twit was a walking nightmare. She was the ugliest young girl and is now an old,
filthy woman. People will never go near
them. People will go running, screaming,
if they saw the Twits. The old man and
woman fight a lot, filthy freaks they are.
Written
by Abigail
The
mean, hairy, horrible Twits like to do pranks and kill birds. They don’t like nice people, kids, smiles and
each other. They look like people I’d
never like to meet. Mrs Twit is as
smelly as dog poo on your shoe, a glass-eyed freak, a walking stick nightmare. You’d think she’s a man growing a beard and
her mono-brow. She should get a job
chopping carrots… with her nose. Her
pants are so high you don’t know where her stomach is. Smiles, fun, kids, happiness and her husband
is what she hates. Mr Twit? His nose is like a pig’s snout.
Written
by Sabine
Mr
Twit looks really disgusting. He has
bogies, bits of mouldy egg and cheese and even strips of left over lettuce in
his beard. Mrs Twit has ugly, thick and
dirty hair and a long, crooked nose. On
Wednesday nights they love to eat Bird Pie!
The Twits in fact loved Bird Pie so much they would probably eat it
every day if they could. These horrid
monsters hated small children and they also did not like each other! The ugly beasts liked to spread sticky
Hug-Tight glue on the branches of their dead tree to catch birds for their pie.
I would hate to be stuck on a tree and I feel
sorry for the all the birds Mr and Mrs Twit ate! Mr Twit pongs of rotten cabbage, Mrs Twit
smells of stinky dog poop. I think if
they had kids they would be as putrid and foul as Mr and Mrs Twit. I think the Twits are horrible people and I
would not like to meet them! I’m sure
you would not want to meet them either because they are…ugly, horrid, hairy,
grumpy, disgusting and weird warthogs!
